Freeweaver Studio is a contemporary weaving studio in London centred around Japanese floor loom weaving and process-led textile practice. Established in 2017, the studio offers workshops for all levels alongside independent loom access for returning weavers wishing to develop their own creative practice within a calm, well-equipped and material-focused environment.

Our introductory workshop offers a direct experience of weaving on Japanese floor looms through an open, process-led approach distinct from conventional pattern-based weaving. Participants are introduced to the basic operation of the loom whilst exploring rhythm, colour, texture and material through hands-on making.

Alongside introductory sessions, Freeweaver Studio offers dedicated scarf and cushion weaving workshops in which participants develop their own woven textile pieces using prepared warps and a wide range of carefully selected fibres and materials. Workshops are open to all levels and supported throughout by experienced studio guidance.

Working with quality studio equipment and natural materials, participants engage directly with the structure, movement and pace of the loom, allowing each woven piece to emerge gradually through focused, immersive making.

Freeweaver Studio is located beside Deptford Station in South East London, just one stop from London Bridge (approximately 5–7 minutes by train) and within a short walking distance of New Cross station.

The studio sits within Deptford Market Yard, surrounded by independent cafés, restaurants and shops, with bicycle parking available nearby.
